The faux bamboo aesthetic is achieved entirely through split turnings — one of the most demanding techniques in the turner’s craft — giving each post its distinctive organic character. Inspired by the New Orleans faux bamboo tradition that swept through American interiors in the early 20th century. Many faux bamboo designs included figured wood like the birdseye panels in this bed. Here we have finished the panels in a lighter color to emphasize the figure and rarity of the material.
