Liberty Carvings has the capability to produce hand-carved architectural moldings to your specifications. We cannot compete with machine-made moldings; but for any 3-dimensional molding pattern, jamb, cornice, mantle, or other detail-oriented carving, we can provide quality work at very competitive prices.

Whether it is a finely-crafted fireplace mantle surrounded with leaf carving; a scrolled entry-way; twist-carved newel-posts; or repeat-motif, variable-sized corners for wainscot and ceiling moldings; we can give you clean, finely-shaped hand-made carvings.

We can also reproduce any kind of Victorian or Rococo interior or exterior woodwork for period-accurate restoration. We can work from a detailed photograph, drawing, or an existing piece, no matter how weather-beaten or deteriorated.

Furniture Parts

Liberty Carvings can supply high-quality carved furniture parts to suit any style furniture. We have carved ball-and-claw and Queen Anne legs and feet; roped or caned table legs; chair-back slats; hand-cut dovetail drawers; and hand-turned finials. All manner of Rococo or Chippendale furniture parts can be reproduced by the skillful craftsmen in our shop.

Doors & Panels Products

Norse Panels

These Norse-themed panels were created for a custom desk we completed. The styling stays true to authentic motifs, line-work, and braided patterns seen in historical carved works and illustrations.

Liberty Carvings offers a line of solid wood doors with raised and carved panels. Our doors are standard exterior or interior dimensions (but can be custom sized per request), and do not contain mortises for hinges or lever hardware. All our doors are carved from your choice of Honduran Mahogany or Spanish Cedar, and can be supplied unfinished, primed, or stained and varnished.

We will be happy to provide all the interior and exterior doors of a home or office suite, all carved with the same motif in appropriate sizes to suit your space. You can select from our wide variety of design motifs, be it a horse, floral, mountain, geometric, or other design pattern. The panels can be carved with symmetric or representational designs, per your request. We can work from detailed photographs or from line drawings.

Additionally, we will carve onto an existing door, cabinet, or wainscot panel. If you are having custom doors made at a woodworking mill, give us the panels after they are milled but before the doors are assembled. We will ensure your pattern is expertly carved to your exact specifications.

Ball & Feather Low Post Bed

This bed is a traditional early American ‘cannonball’ bed. The fine turning are all carved by hand, with highly-detailed feather carving on the posts.

Size & Material Availability

Sizes: Pair of Twins, Double, Queen, King. Headends (headboard only) are available for all beds. Panelled headboards can be supplied without panels (unglued) or with optional solid panels.

Wood: Crafted in premium solid wood. Also available in genuine mahogany.

Crossrail & Footrail Upgrades

Upgrade your bed’s footrail with premium hand-carved details. Options include:

LC10: Complex molding shape crossrail
LC11: Crossrail with 1.5” wide rope carving (Standard on the Jamaican Plantation)
LC14: Crossrail with 2 beads & convex center
LC15: Crossrail with gadroon-carved upper corner

Frames & Mirrors Products

Art Deco Frames

All of our the Art Deco styles are available in either 3″, 3.5″, or 4″ width moldings. Experience how these uniquely styled frames can accent you artwork, or become a stand-alone focal point as a wall mirror.

Custom Carving

We will reproduce any open-source frame or carving style at your request. We can work from the original, from close-up photos, or from detailed drawings. We can also adjust any frame to fit your specific artwork, so that the corners match gracefully and the frame will keep its proportion and balance.

Materials & Construction

Our solid wood picture or mirror frames are hand-fabricated using kiln-dried Spanish Cedar or Honduran Mahogany. Their construction consists of full hidden tenons in the corners, with a full rabbeted back to receive the artwork. Smaller frames have a hand-planed removable back of 1/4″ thick solid wood, with beveled edges in the traditional style. We can also provide a beveled 16” x 20” glass mirror (oval or rectangular), turning the frame into a handsome antique reproduction mirror.

If you wish to have your frame gilded with true gold leaf by a gilding shop, please let us know so we can supply the frame per the gilder’s preference.

Rococo Frames

Our Rococo Frame is richly hand-carved with a shell & flower motif. It is a wide, heavy frame suitable for a seascape or pastoral scene. It also makes a striking beveled glass mirror. This frame will add a rich, luxurious gleam to your home or office wall.
